Ingredients:

  • 500g Bayside Butchery Ground Beef

  • 1 slice bread, soaked in ½ cup milk

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp curry powder

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 2 tbsp chutney (plus extra for serving)

  • 2 tbsp raisins (optional but recommended!)

  • 2 eggs

  • Bay leaves (for topping)

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and lightly grease a baking dish.

  2. Sauté the onion in a pan until soft. Add curry powder and turmeric, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

  4. Stir in chutney and raisins for a touch of sweetness.

  5. Squeeze the milk from the soaked bread, then crumble the bread into the beef mixture—this keeps it moist and tender!

  6. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and press down evenly.

  7. Whisk the eggs with the reserved milk, then pour over the beef. Top with bay leaves for that signature aroma.

  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and set.
